Job Capacity Assessment (JCA)
The Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) program was introduced on 1 July 2006 as a key part of the Government's 'Welfare to Work' package. This program is part of the Government's substantial investment in services designed to help people find and keep paid employment.
A JCA is a comprehensive assessment of a person's ability to work. It also serves as a process for the identification of any barriers people may be facing to finding and maintaining employment.

Specialist Assessments
A Specialist Assessment is most likely to occur where it is not possible to establish the permanency of, or diagnosis, a condition for DSP purposes or a referral to PAGES. For example, a Specialist Assessment may occur in situations where no or limited medical evidence is tendered, or where conditions have not been formally diagnosed. A Specialist Assessment may also occur where it is not possible for an assessor to gauge the likely impact of a medical condition on a client's ability to work without specialist advice. Specialist Assessments are tailored to the clients needs with a detailed report submitted to the referrer once the service has been completed. Specialist Assessments services may include
